One to one surf was created in 2018 by Simon Adams.
Cornwall has many surf schools but here at one to one we believe that we can offer the most unique experience with over 27 years personal surfing experience and after heading up some of Cornwall's biggest surf schools working as an instructor for over 16 years.
Simon also works very closely with Watergate Bay surf lifesaving club as a coach, training the beach lifeguards of the future and developing their sea skills, knowledge and fitness.
We specialise in individuals and small groups. It's a much more personable experience and this way you get quality time with the instructor meaning better progression.
Our local beach, Watergate Bay, Offers waves for everyone with a 3km stretch of sand at low tide, there's plenty of room to find quiet peaks to make the most of your private lesson.
We have a selection of surfboards suitable for beginners to more advanced level surfers and will ensure we give you the best equipment to put you on the right path to a successful surfing session and beyond.
Cornwall is one of the most beautiful places in the world with an amazing coastline that offers some stunning scenery, we look forward to showing off our home to you and developing your surfing skills in our waves!
Owner and head coach, Simon has been teaching surfing since he was 16 ( a long time ago). After completing an outdoor education diploma, training in all things outdoors, he then focused solely on surfing 10 years ago.
On the beach from dawn till dusk during the summer months where if he's not teaching surfing he is training children lifesaving skills and techniques at Watergate's Surf Lifesaving Club.
Surfing all shapes and sizes of boards, he offers a wide range of surfing knowledge, everything you will need to set you on your surfing journey.
Working closely with the local children for many years, Simon has a great teaching ability with the younger students and as one of the only surf schools that takes from 5 years old you can rest assured they're in safe hands in the water.
Dale is no starnger to us here at One to One Surf. He has worked for us on our after school club sessions last year but also worked with Simon previously at O'Neill surf academy for several years when Dale first started out coaching over 6 years ago. Dale brings with him a wealth of knowledge, especially on a shortboard and will be joining us on our after school surf club sessions every week which will restart in May.
Dale teaches all ages and abilities and works to the quote "The best surfer in the water is the one having the most fun. The one having the most fun is the one catching the most waves" never a truer word said!
You will spot his blonde hair from a mile off, always with a coffee in hand, sometimes even in the water! And a great big smile always.
Dale cant wait to meet and spend time in the water with you all.
Clare is our photographer. She's available for pre booked shoots during your surf lessons.
A Newquay based surf and lifestyle photographer and an avid surfer herself. She will be photographing your surf session from in-water with her Canon 5D mark 3 and SPL water housing, allowing us to capture your surf session up close and personal, from a unique angle. You will receive all the photos after your session by email once edited.
Harry also did his initial surf coach training with Simon and has been coaching for 4 years. When not coaching in the UK, you'll find him travelling around the shores of Europe and northern Africa in his camper van, searching for waves. Harry likes to surf a mid length board and has a classic smooth surfing style.
All our coaches hold beach lifeguard awards along with an ISA surf coach award and disclosure checks (DBS/CRB) so you can rest assured you're in safe hands. Simon and Dale are registered surf coaches with Surfing England, the national governing body for surfing.
